5 Surprising Reasons Hotels Have Air Purifiers (And What To Do If They Don't)

Air travel is often associated with jet lag, overpriced snacks, and the occasional lost luggage. But what about the air quality in your hotel room? While you may not give it much thought, the air you breathe during your stay can significantly impact your health and comfort. That's why more and more hotels are investing in air purifiers – and for good reason.

Removing Allergens and Pollutants

Hotel rooms are a revolving door of occupants, each bringing in a new set of pollutants and allergens on their clothing and luggage. From pet dander to tree and flower pollen, these unwanted guests can wreak havoc on those with allergies or respiratory issues.

Air purifiers with advanced filtration systems that effectively capture and remove these airborne irritants provide cleaner, healthier air for guests.

Combating Stagnant Air and Odors

Closed spaces like hotel rooms are prone to stagnant air, which can lead to a buildup of dust mites, mold, and chemicals from cleaning products. This stale air not only smells unpleasant but can also trigger asthma attacks, allergy symptoms, and even increase susceptibility to illnesses.

Air purifiers with activated carbon filters effectively eliminate odors from previous guests, refreshing the air and creating a more comfortable, welcoming environment.

Reducing Health Complaints and Liability

By improving indoor air quality, hotels can significantly reduce the likelihood of guests experiencing respiratory issues, allergic reactions, or other health complaints during their stay. This not only enhances guest satisfaction but also helps mitigate potential liability issues and negative reviews. With cleaner air, guests can enjoy their accommodations without worrying about the impact on their health.

Enhancing Guest Comfort and Experience

In today's competitive hospitality industry, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience is crucial. By investing in air purifiers, hotels can differentiate themselves and cater to the growing demand for healthier living spaces. Guests who sleep better, breathe easier, and feel more refreshed during their stay are more likely to leave positive reviews and become loyal customers.

Promoting Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

Many modern air purifiers, like the Coway Airmega line, are designed with energy-efficient technologies and eco-friendly materials. By implementing these devices, hotels can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, appealing to eco-conscious travelers and aligning with corporate social responsibility initiatives.

3Aerosol test conducted in a Biosafety level 3 laboratory with two Coway air purifier models, Coway Airmega 250 and 400 for removal of SARS-CoV-2 Aerosol by US based MRI Global, a not-for-profit laboratory and partner of US Department of Defense. The test was conducted in a 13.1ft3 chamber. Virus was aerosolized for 15 minutes and the product was turned on high for 2 minutes. Result showed each product effectively removed over 99.98% of the SARS-CoV-2 in 2 minutes. This is a result from a laboratory experiment condition and result may vary in different conditions. This result does not imply it kills SARS-CoV-2 or prevents the transmission of Covid-19. Coway Airmega 250S and 400S are identical to the tested models and has equal performance with an additional mobile connectivity function.

5The coverage area of the air purifier is based on an area where the air cleaner can make two air changes per hour (ACPH). An air change per hour translates to how many times an air purifier can clean an area, assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8 ft, in one hour. Therefore ** means two air changes per hour means that the cleaner can clean the area once every 30 minutes and * means air changes per hour means that the air purifier can clean the area once every 60 minutes.
