Your 10-Minute Filter Maintenance Routine
Keeping your Airmega in top shape doesn’t have to be a chore. With just ten minutes of monthly maintenance, you can make sure your purifier runs efficiently, stays whisper-quiet, and keeps your indoor air fresh and clean. These small steps extend the life of your filters and your Airmega, saving you time, money, and energy.
Below, we’ll walk through a quick, step-by-step routine to help you maintain your Airmega and keep your air as clean as the day you brought it home.
Why Maintenance Matters
Every Airmega is designed to quietly purify your space 24/7, but even the smartest purifier needs a little care. Over time, dust and debris can block airflow, filters can lose efficiency, and sensors can misread your air quality. Regular maintenance ensures your Airmega continues to:
- Capture dust, allergens, and odors effectively
- Operate at peak energy efficiency
- Maintain quiet, consistent performance
- Last for years with fewer replacements
- It only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference
Your 10-Minute Routine
Ready? Grab a soft cloth, a vacuum (or gentle brush), and a little space to work.
1. Unplug and Position
Before anything else, unplug your Airmega. Check that it has at least six to twelve inches of space on all sides. Airflow is key, so if your unit has drifted into a corner, pull it forward to give it room to breathe.
2. Clean the Pre-Filter
Your washable pre-filter is the first layer of defense, catching hair, lint, and larger particles. Pre-filters are essential to proper filtration. Here’s why.
- Open the front cover and gently remove the pre-filter.
- Vacuum both sides or rinse it under warm water.
- Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
Cleaning every two to four weeks helps keep your Airmega efficient and prolongs the lifespan of your main filters.
3. Wipe Down the Exterior
Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the outside of your Airmega. Wipe the air inlets and outlets, removing dust buildup that can restrict airflow. No cleaning sprays or wet wipes are required. All you need just a light touch.
4. Clean the Air Quality Sensor
That little sensor on the side does important work. It measures the air in real time so your Airmega knows when to adjust speeds.
- Open the small sensor cover
- Use a cotton swab or soft brush to remove dust or buildup
- Close the cover when done
- Doing this once every two months keeps your readings accurate and responsive
5. Check Filter Indicators
If your Airmega has a filter indicator light, it will turn on when it’s time to replace your filters. When you see it, swap out your old filters for Coway Genuine Filters, which are designed for a perfect fit and seal. Genuine filters maintain performance, reduce noise, and help your Airmega operate at peak efficiency.

6. Reset and Restart
After cleaning or replacing filters, plug the unit back in and press the reset button to clear the indicator. Listen for smooth airflow. Your Airmega is refreshed and ready to get back to work.
That’s it. Just ten minutes, and you’ll have cleaner air and longer filter life.

Frequently Asked Filter Questions
-
Can I wash the main filter?

-
How often should I clean the pre-filter?
Every 2–4 weeks, or more often if you have pets or heavy dust in your home.
-
What happens if I don’t clean my Airmega regularly?
In every air purifier, airflow can become restricted, filters work harder, and your purifier may run louder or less efficiently over time if you don’t maintain it.
-
Do I really need Coway Genuine Filters?
Yes! They’re designed for your Airmega’s exact size and airflow, ensuring the best fit, seal, and long-term performance.
-
How do I reset the filter indicator after replacement?
After installing new filters, press and hold your Airmega’s Reset or Filter Reset button until the indicator light turns off. Refer to your model’s manual for the exact hold time (it’s usually just a few seconds).
Keeping your Airmega at its best doesn’t take much, just consistency. Ten minutes a month is all it takes to protect your air, your filters, and your peace of mind.

5The coverage area of the air purifier is based on an area where the air cleaner can make two air changes per hour (ACPH). An air change per hour translates to how many times an air purifier can clean an area, assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8 ft, in one hour. Therefore ** means two air changes per hour means that the cleaner can clean the area once every 30 minutes and * means air changes per hour means that the air purifier can clean the area once every 60 minutes.
