Home Renovations: Easier with Airmega

There’s no better way to fall back in love with your house than to spice it up with some redecorating and renovating! Things can get a bit messy when you take on a bigger project that involves demolition or construction, and sometimes removing dust from the air is the step that takes the longest to complete. Using an air purifier while you’re remixing your home is a great way to speed the process up so you can enjoy fresh, clean air in your updated space.

Can construction dust make you sick?

The Electronic Library of Construction Occupational Safety and Health says that construction dust is more than just a nuisance. It has the potential to seriously damage your health, leading to life-altering lung diseases or even death. Some health complications that can be caused by inhaling construction dust include lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. This is especially true of silica dust, which can be released into the air while working with materials like granite, sand and sandstone.

The chemicals that are released in fumes when painting can cause health problems, too. The fumes that evaporate from drying paint can lead to headaches, itchy, watery eyes, dizziness and breathing problems. They can also cause throat and lung irritation and blurred vision.

How to get dust out of the air

Though it can be helpful to open up windows and air the place out, when it comes to getting rid of construction dust and fumes in the air, an air purifier is the most effective solution. Airmega air purifiers suck in the air full of particulate matter and trap the airborne dust in their filters. Then, clean air free from floating pollutants is blown back into your space. This process continues on a loop until up to 99.999%¹ of nano-sized particles down to 0.01 micrometers are removed from the air. For reference, a single grain of silica dust is about 5 micrometers.

Airmega uses multiple layers of filtration, including a patented Green True HEPA™ filter. Together with an odor-neutralizing activated carbon filter, Airmega’s network of capture technologies can significantly reduce the number of harmful particles like dust, pollen and dander from your spaces, as well as viruses and bacteria.

If you are looking for an air purifier for construction dust and fumes to use during renovation or after construction is complete to clear out the air, consider Airmega. Learn more about Coway air purifiers’ features and capabilities at cowaymega.com

¹Coway air purifiers have been proven to trap dust, pollen, dander, viruses and bacteria in the air based on KCL(Korea Conformity Laboratories) testing. They have been tested in a 30㎥ size chamber according to the Korea Air Cleaning Association standard (SPS-KACA 002-132:2018 Modified) to measure the 0.01㎛ size of particle removal rate. It was tested on maximum fan speed in normal room temperature and humidity conditions. The performance may vary in the actual living environment of customers. → Tested with 150, 160, AP-1216L, AP-1512HH, AP-1512HHS, 200M, Icon, IconS, 230, 240, 250, 250S, 300, 300S, 400, 400S

3Aerosol test conducted in a Biosafety level 3 laboratory with two Coway air purifier models, Coway Airmega 250 and 400 for removal of SARS-CoV-2 Aerosol by US based MRI Global, a not-for-profit laboratory and partner of US Department of Defense. The test was conducted in a 13.1ft3 chamber. Virus was aerosolized for 15 minutes and the product was turned on high for 2 minutes. Result showed each product effectively removed over 99.98% of the SARS-CoV-2 in 2 minutes. This is a result from a laboratory experiment condition and result may vary in different conditions. This result does not imply it kills SARS-CoV-2 or prevents the transmission of Covid-19. Coway Airmega 250S and 400S are identical to the tested models and has equal performance with an additional mobile connectivity function.

5The coverage area of the air purifier is based on an area where the air cleaner can make two air changes per hour (ACPH). An air change per hour translates to how many times an air purifier can clean an area, assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8 ft, in one hour. Therefore ** means two air changes per hour means that the cleaner can clean the area once every 30 minutes and * means air changes per hour means that the air purifier can clean the area once every 60 minutes.
